Rally round the Metro campaign

Hundreds of Oldhamers are expected to gather in the town centre tomorrow to protest at the Government's decision to put the town's Metrolink connection on hold. Organisers hope as many people as possible will attend to send out a clear message to Alistair Darling, the Secretary of State for Transport that Metrolink is vital to the future of the borough. The rally is being held in the rotunda area of the Spindles and Town Square shopping centres, and starts at 2pm.
