Camera turns focus on driver's crime

The footage is almost pretty - a contrast to what is happening on the screen. On the far left outbound lane of Kelvin Grove Rd, on Brisbane's northside, a Brisbane City Council camera shows a cyclist waiting at a traffic post with car and street lights twinkling around him.

It is about 8.30pm on August 16 and Matthew Coley, 32, is ready to cycle down the hill towards his Ashgrove home. At home his sons, two and four, are sleeping while his wife waits for him to walk through the door all sweaty and kiss her, before checking the boys are tucked in tight.

But tonight that routine doesn't happen.
