Nicotine, valium, vicodin, marijuana, ecstasy and alcohol
Random roadside drug testing showing one in 50 drivers are on drugs has shocked Victorian road safety authorities. Police Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon said today she was surprised by the outcome of the first six months of the year-long trial. A total of 7207 drivers were tested in the first six months of this year, with 145 testing positive for methamphetamines, cannabis, or both. The strike rate of one in 50 compares with one in 250 drivers caught for drink-driving by roadside breathalyser tests. (more in article)Why can't folks exercise impulse control, stay home and desist from inflicting their problems upon others? There's a proper place for this behaviour, at home, preferably the lounge room. (subtle reference to entry below) Seriously though, has Australian road culture simply "progressed" from the 6 0'Clock Swill to covert chemical substances? Ok, cheap shots or flippancy aside, this is scary stuff. Stoner motorists on methamphetamines. Now that chills my blood.
Update: Light Reading concerning Drugs & Driving. Food for thought; the effects of methamphetamine sound uncannily like classic symptoms of road rage.

Everyone knows you drive better on meth and pot than you do sober.

The effects of someone bumming out on meth are surprisingly similar to mum's who have a couple of naughty children in the back of the car [prob about the same ability to concentrate too]. Forget cars[especially 4wd!]they're smelly and dangerous and cost heaps everyone should ride their bikes or catch public transport, or even little electric cars would probably be ok, rickshaws, mopeds etc etc ...
Just say no to cars.

cileo, those might not be all you think they are. Ibuprofen tablets and some cough & cold remedies can produce false positives.

That said, this motorist who killed a cyclist on Beach Road was coming down from a rave. It all came out at the trial.

I'm afraid it's just that some people are inconsiderate pricks and genuinely don't think about whether their choice of leisure activity, mixed with driving, could cost people their lives. Alas, I think some people are always going to be pricks and we're not allowed to send them off to some savage island where they have to kill one another for food whilst we enjoy watching it all on the television.

My name is Robert Fraser and i would like to show you my personal experience with Vicodin.
I am 27 years old. Have been on Vicodin for 1 day now. Found a few pills. I'm currently not an addict though I have taken vicodin in the past and I am certainly playing with the devil because I do like the feeling it gives me. Biggest problem, besides the addiction, is Insomnia. Tossed and turned for two hours before I decided to research it.
I have experienced some of these side effects -
Constipation and insomnia.
I hope this information will be useful to others,
Robert Fraser
